'Great Gardening Day' - Improving our Story Garden' - Friday 20th October 2023

Our Gardening Day at Sinclair was a huge success. Our story garden looks better than ever thanks to the colourful creations of our students. From painted rocks and tyres, to the eco-curtains, which separate the ball cage from the magical seclusion of the garden. Everything we did went towards making our green spaces better.

In some of our year groups, our focus was on weeding our vegetable and herb gardens. This will make them much more successful in the growing season, as well as making it prettier for us to enjoy when we walk past them every day!

The school Eco-team discussed our favourite parts of the day and here is what each year group had to say:

Year 1: Picking up sticks and leaves was really fun and getting the pumpkin weeds made us really messy!

Year 2: Our best part was making the eco curtains as it was fun to pick up sticks and investigate the wild part of the playground.

Year 3: Our favourite parts were when we positioned our new wooden mushroom stools, they look so cool! Also weeding our garden spaces made us feel super helpful!

Year 4: The Eco-team's best part was painting tyres as they make the playground colourful and more fun to be in!

Year 5: We really enjoyed painting rocks to colour the story garden and that we all got a chance to contribute and have fun!

Year 6: Our favourite part was to design our story garden as it showed our own personal impact. Separating the garden from the reading spot makes it feel like a really special and individual space!

We hope to keep up our hard work, creativity and sustainable efforts so that the green spaces at Sinclair are still useful and helpful for everyone to enjoy for many years!
