Year two have been learning how to solve multiplication and division sentences using concrete, pictorial and abstract methods. We started by using multi-link cubes to physically demonstrate how multiplication and division are solved. Once we understood how to use physical resources, we then moved on to drawing hoops and dots to help us find our answer. Finally, we learnt how to use repeated addition for multiplication. With all of our new skills, we are now working on applying them in a context by practicing worded problems. Some of us are even trying to write our own worded problems to show our understanding of the operations.
