School Council update

The School Council have had a very busy year this year influencing ourselves, our school community and the wider community. We started the year by looking at different experiences children in the school have had in the view to create an 'Experience Passport.' Our Year 6 councillors attended a Partnership Summit in the Scitt building at Holy Family where they worked with Partnership schools and created this.

Wet Play games became our next focus and we arranged a non school uniform day to raise money to buy new games for each class. We also asked for donations of games from children that may have 'grown out' of or no longer play with - we were inundated with them - Thank you! Now each class has a bank of games to play when the weather is not so great!

We were also involved in planting a tree with the support of the Eco Warrior Team,  celebrating the 800th Mayor of Southampton becoming the first Lord Mayor of Southampton  -  Councillor Jacqui Rayment .The tree was donated and planted by representatives from Balfour Beatty.

We also supported 'The Big Help Out Day' by coming up with ideas alongside the Reading Ambassadors and helping make sure the day ran smoothly. We were a great help to the parents showing them where they needed to go and were great role models for Sinclair Primary School.

More recently we have been working alongside Chrissy, our Education Mental Health Practitioner, from the Mental Health in Schools Team (MHST), thinking about how to make the school a safer space for pedestrians, which will be a focus next year too.
