Year 6 Blog - Day 2
Tuesday was amazing, we woke up and we’re first in to breakfast for a treat of full English, cereal, and a steady supply of toast and toppings.
Our first activity was ‘high ropes’ where everybody succeeded in pushing themselves to daring heights and even some of us taking ‘the leap of faith’ a 30ft high jump from a platform to touch a ball or hang-bar.
We had delicious sandwiches for lunch and then were immediately whisked away in minibuses to take us upstream of the river. After a safety display, the instructors got us all into Kayaks and we paddled (some more effectively than others) down the river at a gentle pace. Near to the end, a ballet of movements almost managed to get us all the rough the arches under a bridge without successfully but a last minute charge by some unknown individual resulted in a multi-kayak pile up! We all got through safely and no one fell in at this point as the instructors were experts at handling this situation. Judging by how much people were smiling and laughing I began to thing that this what exactly what everyone had aimed to do now that they were confident paddlers.
A lovely dinner and showers warmed us up and we went into a super-competitive scavenger hunt in the evening finding alsorts of random items from a list to gain points. We don’t know who won yet but will find out when the instructors hand out the prizes at a later time. They said it was a close competition.
