Year R Phonics Workshop

On Tuesday 22nd November, Year R had their first whole class phonics workshop for parents. Lots of parents came to join in and experience our Pip and Pap phonics! First, we taught our parents the letters and sounds that we needed in order to read the book. We then taught them 'Earth words'. which are words that we can not sound out in full, yet! Finally, we enjoyed three fun activities about the story. These included - reading the book to our parents or teachers using our blending and Earth words, making our own Gop the Pig using collage techniques because in the story Tisp tries to sneak Gop the Pig in his bag! and reading tickets to find out where to go on the map.

We had a great afternoon and loved teaching our parents about phonics at our school! Our next sessions are on Thursday 1st December and Tuesday 6th December at 2.40pm. We hope to see you there!
