Outdoor Wellbeing blog:
On Friday, we launched our PD days with an exciting outdoor learning session led by Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Whitehead, focused on gardening, wellbeing, and ecological awareness. Both students and staff enjoyed a sunny day filled with hands-on activities, including exploring the outdoors and building Lash frames.
Years 1, 2, and 3 became nature detectives, gathering items from the outdoor environment to create beautiful baskets. Meanwhile, Years 4, 5, and 6 worked as a team to construct Lash frames, which will be placed around the school to attract wildlife for students to observe and study.
Throughout the day, we discussed the four pillars of eco-awareness: Community Champions, Eco Warriors, Mindfulness, and Scientists. Together, we reflected on what Sinclair is doing well and brainstormed areas for improvement. The students were especially enthusiastic about planting new vegetables and flowers. We explored the garden, discovering herbs, fruits, and even harvesting garlic, taking time to smell and appreciate the natural scents.
It was a day of teamwork, learning, and
deepening our connection with nature! We were delighted to have Mrs. Smith join us from Mansel Park, and she quickly became a valued part of the team, thoroughly enjoying her day with us. She even took some garlic back to plant at Mansel Park, showing how Sinclair’s eco initiatives are already making a positive impact on the wider community. By strengthening partnerships across schools, we are further developing our ethos of being architects of a better world.
