Year R - blog

In Year R this term, we have been learning about the Lunar New Year.

For our maths learning, we learned about the animal race which decided the order of the animals in the Zodiac. We had our own races and used ordinal numbers to award rosettes to each other.

During our Art lessons, we developed our cutting and folding skills to make Chinese lanterns and decorations.

Then, we learned about where in the world China is for our Geography lessons. We were very interested in The Great Wall of China so tried to build our own – very successfully!

We also thought about the people who live in China and role-played having our own celebration.

Finally, after reading lots of books and stories about Lunar New Year, we wrote our own fact file. We are trying hard to write sentences with capital letters and full stops to make our writing easier to read.
