Reading Ambassador blog:

Our Reading Ambassadors recently visited Sinclair Primary and Nursery School for a special training session delivered by the School Library Association (SLA). It was a fantastic opportunity to work alongside pupils from Sinclair, make new Reading Ambassador friends and share ideas about how to strengthen reading culture in our schools. During the session, we learned about the difference between fiction and non-fiction, explored how the Dewey Decimal System helps organise library books, and discussed a range of genres to better support pupil readers.

We also talked about how to make thoughtful book recommendations, promote books through engaging displays, and organise the library so it is welcoming and easy to use. The training encouraged us to think about creating reading clubs and developing an inspiring reading environment for everyone. We are incredibly excited to put our new learning into action and proud to be part of this brand-new pilot programme, which will be rolled out across Southampton and nationally through the SLA for primary schools.
