Year 2 Parent Workshop:

Year 2 Pupils enjoyed reading Purple Phase Book 3, "Roman Numerals," today as part of their parent and child phonics workshop.

This book focused on recapping alternative pronunciations for graphemes we have already met, such as the letter <a> pronounced as /ai/ in words like 'acorn', /ar/ in words like 'grass' and /o/ in words like 'squash!' Year 2 explained the alternative pronunciations for the letters 'a', 'e', 'i', 'o' and 'u' to their parents and before reading the story to their grown up.

In this story, a spider interrupts Pip and Pap's History lesson! Once parents and pupils had read the book together, they made their own spiders, with paper plates and googly eyes! Aren't they fantastic?

We regularly run Pip and Pap Phonics workshops in school, in Years R
