Year 1 Pip and Pap Workshop

Year 1 Pip and Pap Workshop

Year 1 parents and pupils have very much been enjoying their weekly phonics workshops!

Last week, they read the story "Shoop the Cook," recapping the grapheme phoneme correspondences /ai/, /ee/, /igh/, /oa/ and /oo/, reading sentences such as "Dad and Tisp go to the High Street to get some lunch. Tisp spots Shoop the cook!"

Then, each pair made their own chef's hat - aren't they wonderful? We hope you enjoyed cooking in your hats at home!

This week, parents and pupils read the story "The Talent Contest," where they recapped the grapheme-phoneme correspondences /ar/, /or/, /ur/ and 'er'. Parents and pupils discussed and celebrated their talents, before making their own trophies together, with gold foil!

We run parent and child phonics workshops each week in Years R-2, please ask for more details at the office.
