National Deaf Awareness Week:
In celebration of National Deaf Awareness Week, some of the children from our lunchtime signing club led an assembly to raise awareness within the school community. They emphasised the importance of understanding different communication needs and ensuring inclusivity in communication for all.
Under the guidance of Mrs. Whitehead, the children have been learning British Sign Language every Tuesday lunchtime. During the assembly, they showcased their progress by demonstrating various signs, including greetings like "good morning" and inspirational phrases like "we are architects of a better world." Additionally, they shared signs for different animals and even challenged the school to a quiz on these signs.
The assembly concluded with a performance of "This Is Me" from The Greatest Showman in British Sign Language, showcasing their dedication and talent in sign language communication.
