Year 2 Parent & Pupil Workshop:

Year 2 had a fabulous time in their Pip and Pap Phonics workshop today, reading Purple Phase Book 2 "The Watchmaker" with their parents!

We revisited words that contain alternative pronunciations for graphemes as part of our learning today, such as 'watch', 'apron' and 'wallet', which all make an /o/ sound instead of an /a/. Pupils read sentences such as "In the afternoon, Dad wanders into town and tries to find the local watchmakers," with fluency and expression, before answering questions about the story they had read.

In this story, Dad does some spring cleaning, and puts out some lovely tulips in the kitchen. Pupils and parents made their own tulips in a vase together - aren't they just lovely? We run Pip and Pap Family Workshops together every other week at Sinclair, in Years R-2. Please ask your child's class teacher or at the office for more details.
