Year 2 Pip and Pap Phonics Workshop

Year 2 parents and pupils read Purple Phase Book 19, "The Auction House" today, where they recapped alternative graphemes for sounds that they already know.

For example, they looked at how 'ti', 'si', 'ssi' and 'ci' can make the /sh/ sound or /zh/ sound in words such as 'auctioneer', 'special', 'mansion' and 'tension'. 

In the story, Min finds a ring in the board game that she wins at the auction! Pupils and parents read the book together before making their own board game together to play at home. Aren't they fabulous? They also discussed what to do if they ever found an item that did not belong to them, and how to return it to the rightful owner.
