Year 6 Devon Adventure:
Day 1.
Thank you to all the parents who waved us off with a smile this morning as we embarked on our adventure. After a safe journey, we entered the beautiful surroundings of Devon where we were met with hilly landscapes, coastal cliffs and sandy bays. On arrival, we were taken to our accommodation in the Orchard wing and quickly settled into our rooms.
Shortly after, we ventured straight down to the beach to orientate ourselves with the beautiful landscape. The first activity was a sandcastle competition: imagine rocky towers, sandy moats and seaweed ‘red carpets’. Following this, a game of beach football was enjoyed despite the terrain creating several tricky obstacles.
This evening on the menu was spaghetti bolognese, veggie pasta or jacket potatoes. Everyone devoured their food and particularly enjoyed the pudding - the chocolate cake was a hit!
After dinner, we trekked down to the beach with full bellies to play wide games. Despite the rain, we all had great fun playing games together as a group. Our favourite had to be Attackers and Defenders.
The children have had a busy, but very enjoyable first day. We are looking forward to high ropes and a Seashore Trail tomorrow. Watch this space for tomorrow’s blog.
