Mental Health Assembly:

Mental Health Assembly with Anna

Year 1 and Year 2 were very lucky to be joined by Anna for a special Mental Health in Schools assembly.

During the session, we thought carefully about our bodies and discussed different ways to keep ourselves healthy. We explored how looking after our minds is just as important as looking after our bodies, and shared ideas for supporting our mental health.

Year 2 then took part in a workshop where they explored practical ways to look after their mental wellbeing, such as spending time with family, having a bath or shower, playing with friends, listening to music, reading books, and taking part in sports.

The children learnt a range of strategies to help them feel calm, including simple breathing techniques and ways to relax when they might be feeling overwhelmed.

We also had an important discussion about emotions, recognising that all feelings are normal and valid. Together, we talked about positive ways to understand and manage our emotions, and how we can support ourselves and others when we experience different feelings.

It was a thoughtful and engaging session, and the children showed great maturity when sharing their ideas.
