Year 2 Phonics Workshop – The Hockey Final

Our Year 2 parents and carers enjoyed reading The Hockey Final today as part of our first Parent and Pupil Workshop of the year. Together, we recapped alternative pronunciations and explored how children use these to decode trickier words in the text.In the story, Pip and Pap oversleep and almost miss their big match! This linked perfectly to our hands-on activity, where parents and children worked together to make their own alarm clocks using split pins. The finished clocks looked wonderful, and the children were very proud to show them off.At Sinclair, we run Pip and Pap workshops in Weeks 2 and 5 for children in Years R–2.
