Year 1 Phonics Workshop:

We were delighted to welcome so many parents to today’s phonics workshop. Your presence brought a wonderful sense of enthusiasm and excitement to the session, making it a truly special learning experience for the children.

During the workshop, the children enjoyed reading their pink phase book, Clown Tricks, alongside their parents. They confidently demonstrated excellent fluency and proudly shared their knowledge of pink phase digraphs. It was fantastic to see their growing skills in action.

As a group, the children also showed how well they could recall their “tricky” (earth) words before reading, highlighting their increasing confidence and understanding. Parents engaged thoughtfully by asking questions, helping to deepen the children’s comprehension and enjoyment of the story.

To finish the afternoon, everyone got creative by making fun and imaginative clown faces using paper plates and tissue paper—a lovely way to bring learning and play together.

Thank you to all who attended. It was a joyful and productive session, and the children thoroughly enjoyed sharing their learning with you.
