Year 6 Devon Adventure:
Day 4
Our morning began with another water-based adventure. After a comprehensive tutorial, the children took to the water and rowed away in two-person kayaks. Scenic views were supplemented with interspersed activities such as tennis ball catching and a splashing competition. It was a relaxing start to the day and a great opportunity to see the local town from the water.
In the afternoon, we were able to explore underground with a caving adventure. Secret chambers and narrow, twisting passageways kept the children engaged as they challenged themselves to explore the depths of a man-made caving course. Alongside this, an obstacle course provided the children with an opportunity to finetune their teamwork skills and agility to complete a variety of obstructions.
The evening was a chance to learn a basic survival skill in the wild: campfire creation. After scavenging through the fields, the structure for a fire was created and the children used flint to create sparks. This hard work was rewarded with the chance to toast a marshmallow before eating it.
We have had such a fantastic week and are thoroughly excited to complete our last activity tomorrow of rafting before heading home.
