On Thursday 12th February, Year 6 travelled to Bitterne Park Primary School to meet Ele Fountain, the author of Boy 87. Having thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and learning about refugees during their Autumn Term Guided Reading lessons, the children were very excited to have the opportunity to hear her speak about her work and answer their questions. Ele shared insights into her writing space and explained the process of developing a book from the initial idea through to publication. She then answered thoughtful questions about the story and its characters, giving pupils a deeper understanding of the novel. It was inspiring to hear her speak so passionately about the writing process and to learn how much time and careful editing goes into producing a finished book.
