Refugee assembly:

In preparation for National Refugee Week, which begins on Monday 16th June 2025, Sinclair welcomed Linda from the Southampton & Winchester Visitors Group (SWVG), along with Suba, a refugee from Sri Lanka. Linda introduced the work of SWVG, explaining how volunteers support refugees as they settle into life in the UK.

Suba then shared her powerful personal story of fleeing civil war, including the heartbreak of being separated from her family and surviving over 30 escapes in search of safety. Her moving account was accompanied by photos of refugee camps she lived in, giving pupils a real insight into the refugee experience. The assembly ended with a thoughtful Q&A session, where Suba and Linda answered excellent questions prepared by the children. It was a truly thought-provoking and emotional assembly, handled with great interest and respect by all our pupils.
