Year 4 blog:

For National Poetry Day, Year 4 worked together to create a spooky, Halloween-themed class poem all about a haunted Sinclair School! Inspired by this year’s theme of “Wonder”, the children let their imaginations run wild, thinking about mysterious noises, spooky shadows and strange happenings around our school.

They shared their ideas, experimented with language and worked together to create a fun and imaginative poem that brings their haunted school to life!

The Oldest Pupil

When the sun goes down at Sinclair School,
And everyone’s gone home,
A ghost comes creeping through the halls,
Where shadows twist and roam.

The lights flash on, the door goes BANG!
There’s icy, chilly air,
It sends a shiver down your spine…
Like Mr Walker’s assembly stare!

The pencils dance, the chairs all shake,
Books tumble to the floor,
The toilets flush all by themselves…
Then KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK goes the door!

But wait… what’s that? A whisper comes,
A flicker in the light,
A shadow gliding down the hall—
What a wondrous sight!

So if you’re ever at Sinclair,
And strange sounds you hear,
Don’t scream, don’t run, don’t hide away—
There’s nothing you should fear.

It’s only Sinclair’s oldest pupil,
Still wandering after years…
He came to school in Year Four,
And stayed for a HUNDRED YEARS!

What a wonderfully wondrous and spooky creation from Year 4! Their poem shows how imagination, teamwork and a little bit of mystery can turn an ordinary school into somewhere truly magical!
