A Very Special Delivery for Our Reading Ambassadors!

This week brought an unforgettable moment for our Reading Ambassadors, one that has left them absolutely buzzing with excitement!

A very official-looking envelope arrived, complete with the unmistakable House of Commons heading across the top. (Yes, the real thing - on headed paper! I think that’s incredibly cool, and the children certainly agreed!) Inside was a personal letter addressed to our Reading Ambassadors from none other than Satvir Kaur, who had taken the time to write directly to our pupils.

In her letter, Satvir congratulated the children on the brilliant work they’ve been doing to promote reading within our school community. She praised their commitment, their passion for books, and the positive influence they’ve had on their peers. But perhaps the most astonishing part of her message was the news she shared: their efforts have helped to influence national policy.

Satvir explained that the work of children like our Reading Ambassadors, championing reading, speaking up about the importance of books, and demonstrating how vital school libraries are, has played a part in shaping a significant decision. Labour is now ensuring that all primary schools across the country will have a library. This is a monumental step for children’s literacy and education nationwide, and our pupils were amazed to learn that they have contributed to something so important.

The room was filled with a mixture of pride, excitement, and a sense of empowerment as the children realised that their voices truly matter. To know that their enthusiasm for reading has stretched far beyond our school gates, all the way to Parliament, is something they will carry with them for a long time.

Our Reading Ambassadors have always known that books can change lives. Now they’ve learned that their actions can change the world around them, too.

We couldn’t be prouder of them.
