Year 5 blog:

Our Year 5 Sleepover Trip to the Winchester Science Centre was a truly magical experience from start to finish. The children showed exceptional behaviour throughout and approached every moment with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a wonderful sense of adventure.

From the moment we arrived, the excitement was unmistakable. After a warm welcome and safety briefing, pupils headed off to explore the incredible exhibits after hours, making the Science Centre feel like our very own private discovery zone! The hands-on activities encouraged endless questions, teamwork, and imaginative thinking as children explored forces, space, sound, and so much more. They even delivered fantastic mini-presentations on their favourite exhibits, confidently practising their oracy skills. Mr Walker was blown away by their knowledge and enthusiasm. We were also lucky enough to enjoy a visit to the planetarium before getting ready for bed.

Later in the evening, everyone gathered for a comforting hot chocolate and cookie before settling down among the exhibits. Mrs Frazer read a bedtime story, creating a calm and cosy atmosphere for lights out. The children drifted off surrounded by galaxies, rockets, and the wonders of science, an experience we are sure they will remember for a long time.

The next morning began with bright smiles.  After getting themselves ready and enjoying a delicious breakfast together, the children headed into another spectacular planetarium show. This exclusive viewing transported everyone into space, igniting imaginations and linking beautifully to our Year 5 science learning.

By the time we travelled back to school, tired but happy faces filled the coach. It was clear that the sleepover had been a huge success, packed with learning, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

A massive well done to all of Year 5 for representing our school so beautifully. Your behaviour, teamwork, and sense of adventure made this trip truly special.

We can’t wait for the next one!
