Year 2 blog:
This week, Year 2 enjoyed a wonderful phonics parent workshop. It was fantastic to welcome parents into the classroom and share how phonics supports the children’s reading and writing development.
During the session, we read the story Pip and Pap: Abracadabra, which the children loved. The book’s magical theme created lots of excitement and helped the children practise using their phonics skills to decode new words.
To continue the magical theme, the children and their families took part in a fun craft activity. Together, they made special hats decorated with rabbits being pulled out of a magician’s hat – just like in a magic trick! The activity encouraged creativity while giving families the chance to work together and celebrate learning.
It was a lovely opportunity to share our phonics learning with parents and show how much progress the children are making. Thank you to all the parents who attended and helped make the session so enjoyable and successful.
