Reading blog:
We are incredibly proud of Phoebe, one of our Year 6 librarians and Reading Ambassadors, who was recently featured in The School Librarian Magazine as part of the article “Pupil Power: Young Voices for Change.” In the article, Phoebe shares how the Reading Ambassadors at Sinclair Primary and Nursery School help promote a love of reading across our school and beyond.
At Sinclair, we believe children can become Architects of a Better World. Reading plays a huge role in this. Books open our imaginations, teach us new ideas, and inspire us to think about how we can make positive changes in the world around us.
Throughout the year, we celebrate reading in many exciting ways, including:
Reading challenges that encourage pupils to explore new genres and authors
Classroom and corridor displays celebrating favourite books and pupil recommendations
Book swaps where children can share stories and discover something new
Cosy reading corners with cushions, and themed decorations
Special events such as World Book Day celebrations, author visits, library trips, and readers in assembly
Competitions including Best Book Corner, national online reading challenges, and book reviews
We also work closely with local libraries and bookshops to keep our school library filled with exciting and popular books. Our annual Book Fair helps raise money to purchase even more books for pupils to enjoy.
With 2026 being the National Year of Reading, we are looking forward to even more exciting opportunities to celebrate books – including new reading challenges, creative displays, competitions, and special events.
Phoebe’s involvement in this article highlights the power of pupil voice. Her passion for reading and her commitment to making books accessible for everyone truly reflects our school mission.
Well done, Phoebe – and all of our Reading Ambassadors. We are incredibly proud of you!
