OWWL: Water, Nature and Sustainability
This week in OWWL, we continued to develop our awareness of sustainability, nature and our natural resources, linking our learning to Global Goal 15: Life on Land and Global Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.
We explored the importance of clean water and investigated how water can be filtered, using different natural materials to see how we could remove dirt and impurities. This helped us think about where our water comes from and why it is such an important resource that we need to protect and use responsibly.
We also learned about tippy taps. A tippy tap is a simple hand-washing station made from a container, often a recycled bottle, which releases a small amount of water when it is tipped using a foot pedal. They can provide access to handwashing in places where running water is not readily available, while also helping to conserve water.
Our activities encouraged us to think about how we can make sustainable choices and care for the natural resources around us
