Reading Ambassadors:
Reading Ambassadors Represent Sinclair at a Special Literacy Event!
A group of five of our Reading Ambassadors were incredibly lucky to be invited to meet Victoria Dilly, CEO of the School Library Association. During the visit, they worked alongside Victoria to help her and her team shape a brand-new national award for Junior Librarians. This was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to share their ideas and experiences, helping to influence a project that will support young librarians across the country.
Victoria has worked in education for over 20 years, beginning her career as a school librarian before leading national education programmes for organisations including the National Literacy Trust, Royal Horticultural Society and Young Enterprise. She is passionate about promoting reading for pleasure and ensuring that all children have access to high-quality school library experiences.
Following the meeting, our Reading Ambassadors took part in the Hampshire Reading Championships, expertly compered by Mr Dilly. Known for his energetic literacy events, storytelling workshops and national reading initiatives, Mr Dilly has inspired hundreds of thousands of children across the UK through his work promoting books, reading and learning.
Although Sinclair did not take home the trophy this year, we had a fantastic time representing our school, celebrating our love of reading and meeting pupils from across the region. We are incredibly proud of our Reading Ambassadors for their enthusiasm, confidence and excellent behaviour throughout the day.
A huge congratulations goes to Our Lady and St Joseph Primary School, who were crowned Hampshire Reading Champions. As a fellow Learning Federation school, we were delighted to see their success.
Well done to all of our Reading Ambassadors- you were outstanding ambassadors for Sinclair and should be very proud of yourselves!
